[At odd times, Anya can be found in the common rooms, curled up on a couch with the guitar Bea gave her for Christmas, humming and practicing chords. She's still new at it, and not worried yet about picking up anything fancy. Her fingertips are still in the raw stage, pink and sore, but she practices diligently, with a small smile.]

And how many times has it been updated, since the Admiral first left it at your warden's door? [She doesn't think Anya would doctor anything, exactly: it's more a show of her lack of general trust rather than an actual expectation of dishonesty from her newest warden.]

[Matter-of-fact. She's a very different person than she was. She suspects that Morgana is too, one way or another. The barge may be very unkind, but it changes you.]

I don't plan to interfere with her with her work in the infirmary. It's probably really good, that she's there.

But I'd like to get a better sense of - how long she's been there, what's she usually like on shift, has it changed over time? That sort of thing.

[Music on the Barge tends to draw Esther in, usually from a distance. Anya's strumming inspires the urge to eavesdrop and she does, hugging the wall outside the common room for awhile before peeking in to see who's playing.]

[That's - she can wrap her head around that, she can work with it. She'll have to be careful, because she aches with sympathy already and she won't ignore it, but she can't let it make her careless either, let her assume there's an understanding where there isn't and then clash over every dissonant note the way she and Zane did, for awhile. That sort of thing is easier overcome between equals.]
